Education Development Program (EDP)

The primary goal of the project to save the Urdu-speaking children from being lost as street children, as these children have been living in camps and deprived from their schooling. EDP is an Education Program of Al-Falah Bangladesh under its Project Community Development Center (CDC). The CDC was established in 2007 with the support from the local well wishers of the community to promote education and skill among the Urdu speaking camp dwellers in Bangladesh.

The General Education Systems in Bangladesh is divided into five level:)

* Primary Level (years 1 to 5)
* Junior Level (years 6 to 8)
* Secondary Level (years 9 to 10)
* Higher Secondary Level (years 11 and 12)
* Tertiary Level (e.g.colleges, polytechnics & professional qualifications )

The objective of the EDP project is to encourage the community to focus on the General and Technical Education. In 2009-2010 a USA based organization Target International Grant Program (TIGP) under its corporate responsibility supported the CDC project of Al-Falah Bangladesh. From 2013 Target Foundation through United Way Worldwide (UWW), USA provided financial assistance for the project Education Development Program (EDP) of Al-Falah Bangladesh. Keeping in mind that education is the only key to social, cultural and economic development of young generation of the community, Al-Falah Bangladesh is committed to promoting education and skill development through Education Development Program (EDP). The organization updates its donors, well-wishers and the Government of Bangladesh about its achievements, failures and challenges (see annual report 2013 to 2016).

Foundation Schools

These schools were established on the basis of “Self-help education”. In these schools, teachers, mainly girl students are given scholarship to continue their own secondary or higher level studies and in lieu of the scholarships they provide teaching pre-primary education to batches of 20 to 30 children of 4-5 years age. The teachers prepare them for admission in Class 1 of the Primary Schools within the vicinity.
